Red hollyhock flower against a background of leaves.
The inspiration for this acrylic painting came from one of my photos about the ancient hollyhock, the marvel of the gardens that blooms all summer.

Hello Maia,
What lovely paintings you have here and how sweet of you to leave a comment and an award of appreciation.
I am a big fan of hollyhocks. Several years ago I lived in a small mountain town in Colorado. I had a wall of hollyhocks that I grew from seeds that I had collected throughout the valley. Many had not seen the hollyhocks in my town and said that they would not grow. Much to our delight I had counted 11 colors and over 40 stalks many hitting heights of 8 feet. People would drive by to see them and one elderly lady smiled and shared how her own grandmother once grew hollyhocks in this very town long ago.
I could go on and on about hollyhock lore but I'll stop here for now.
I admire your painting skills. You are very talented.
